New Evaluation Confirms AgriCoach is Transforming Smallholder Agriculture in Burkina Faso
A new internal evaluation of AUXFIN's AgriCoach has confirmed what thousands of farmers across Burkina Faso are already experiencing: digital technology, when designed around the realities of rural communities, can significantly improve agricultural productivity, knowledge, and livelihoods.
Developed by AUXFIN, AgriCoach is an offline-first digital learning platform that delivers practical agricultural training through videos in local languages. Designed specifically for rural environments with limited connectivity, the application has already reached more than 60,000 households across 1,754 G50 farmer groups.
The evaluation found that 95% of farmers using AgriCoach adopted improved farming practices, from better crop planning using weather forecasts to implementing modern cultivation techniques. These behavioural changes translated into remarkable productivity gains, with rice yields increasing by 103%, amaranth by 83%, onions and tomatoes by 65%, maize by 30%, and sorghum by 9%.
Beyond higher yields, the evaluation demonstrates how accessible digital knowledge empowers farmers to make better decisions, strengthens resilience, and creates a ripple effect within communities. Four out of five farmers reported that neighbouring farmers are now eager to join the G50 network after witnessing the results.
The findings reinforce AUXFIN's expertise in developing and deploying digital solutions that place smallholder farmers at the heart of agricultural value chains. By combining locally relevant technology with community-based support, AUXFIN is helping farmers become more knowledgeable, more profitable, and better equipped to build sustainable livelihoods.
The evaluation also highlights opportunities to further strengthen impact through expanded local language support, improved access to agricultural inputs, and complementary innovations such as WaterCoach for sustainable water management.
