Discovering Eloy Mugisha, a Young Talent with a Promising Journey
Eloy joined AUXFIN BURUNDI as a professional intern from the University of Lake Tanganyika in Bujumbura, Department of Statistics. Curious and determined, Eloy managed to turn this first opportunity into a great professional experience. Today, he is about to take an important new step in his journey.
We still remember the day Eloy joined AUXFIN BURUNDI. It all started with a simple phone call in August 2023. AUXFIN had reached out to his university to identify the top graduates of his class. His profile naturally stood out, and he was contacted for an interview with AUXFIN’s Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) department.
What was striking from the beginning was his responsiveness and determination. The very evening of the call, Eloy had already located our offices and started thoroughly researching AUXFIN BURUNDI. On the day of the interview, he was the first to arrive. He was prepared, motivated, with a clear idea in mind: seize this opportunity and go as far as possible.
Out of about twenty candidates interviewed, five were selected for the internship. Eloy was part of them, and he quickly integrated into the team. What he particularly appreciated, as he often told us, was the dynamic and supportive atmosphere among colleagues: “Most employees are young, there is solidarity, and you can feel that everyone wants to move things forward.” He was also deeply moved by AUXFIN BURUNDI's concrete commitment to rural farming communities. He quickly realized that his work had real meaning.
Over the months, he acquired solid skills in monitoring and evaluation, participated in field missions, analyzed data, and contributed to the writing of strategic reports. He learned quickly, asked the right questions, and didn’t hesitate to step out of his comfort zone. After just three months, he was offered a job contract as a Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant.
His time at AUXFIN BURUNDI will always be marked by his humility and gratitude. Eloy never stopped emphasizing how much this first experience meant to him: “AUXFIN gave me a chance when I had no experience. They trained me and trusted me.”While many companies require several years of experience, AUXFIN chooses to trust young people ; and Eloy is a living proof that it pays off.
Today, a new chapter begins for him. Eloy is now going to pursue his master’s studies in Economics, Statistics, and Modeling at the University of Lille in France. A choice that perfectly aligns with his skills, discipline, and desire to contribute to development through data and analysis.
At AUXFIN BURUNDI, we’re proud to have been a springboard in his journey.
Good luck, Eloy ; Keep learning, aim high, and keep making a difference.
The best is yet to come.
