A New Hope Sprouts in NDAVA-VILLAGE
Through the G50 initiative, 30 people from NDAVA-VILLAGE, located in the NDAVA zone of the BUGANDA commune, came together with a simple but powerful mission: to take control of their destiny through agriculture. The group was named GATOKE-GR1, and it consists of 9 men and 21 women, united not only by the land but also by a common vision — one of a dignified and prosperous future.
When the Land Becomes a Promise
At the start of 2025, as Season A began, the group members rolled up their sleeves. With unprecedented determination, they cultivated 18 ares of land. At harvest time, they reaped 987 kg of crops. Of this, 350 kg were carefully stored in a community silo to help feed families or to be used in case of shortages. The rest was kept in regular sacks due to a lack of hermetic storage bags.
But the most remarkable part wasn’t just the harvest — it was what happened after.
Faced with soaring market prices, the group refused to let its members go hungry. Each week, they organized a solidarity-based distribution of 5 kg per member, sold at a symbolic price of 1,000 FBu. This initiative not only ensured easy access to food for members but also allowed the group to save a bit of money for the next planting season.
Season B: Growing More Grains
Then came Season B of 2025. This time, soybeans and maize were planted, carrying the hope of a richer harvest. Unfortunately, production was lower than expected due to delays in the delivery of chemical fertilizers. Despite this, the group remains optimistic. They carefully saved 29 kg of soybeans for future planting.
In spite of challenges, the members make sure each harvest is shared fairly, strengthening a spirit of social cohesion while drawing inspiration from the motto of the President of the Republic:
"Every mouth must have food, every pocket must have money."
The Quiet Transformation of a Community
But behind these numbers lies a deeper transformation — a change in mindset, respectfully cultivated by a trusted partner: AUXFIN BURUNDI.
This name is often mentioned by the members, with emotion and gratitude. It is thanks to their guidance, patience, and support that NDAVA-VILLAGE, once seen as a place without a future, has regained confidence in itself.
“Before, we thought only big towns could succeed. Today, even here, we’re starting to dream, to plan, to hope,” shared one group member.
The group leader, Mr. Onésime MUNEZERO, is convinced: what they experienced this year is just the beginning. He expresses heartfelt thanks to AUXFIN BURUNDI, not only for their agricultural advice but especially for restoring human dignity to each member — and to the whole community.
When Good Agricultural Practices Lead to Dignity
The story of GATOKE-GR1 is not just about a group of farmers. It is about an awakening, a reclaimed pride, and a community proving that even the most modest lands can bear abundant fruit — when cultivated with solidarity, wisdom, and hope.
Long live AUXFIN BURUNDI! Long live the G50!
